Spoken word tour features artists, celebs

NEW YORK (Billboard) - The Spitfire Tour will return for a fourth installment, kicking off Sept. 12 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and continuing on to about 15 additional college campuses. The event features spoken word presentations from musicians and activists on a variety of social and political issues. Set to appear at various tour stops are ex-Soul Coughing frontman M. Doughty, Fishbone's Angelo Moore, Spearhead's Michael Franti, former Dead Kennedys lead singer Jello Biafra, actor Andy Dick and Dr. Drew, host of MTV's "Loveline" series. The tour hit the road earlier this year with a lineup that included Indigo Girls, former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and actors Woody Harrelson and Rosie Perez.
