SOULMATES

January 10, 2000

> A while back, I posted, and I asked: "Where is my soulmate?" One of
>you (I can't remember who) told me that there's no such thing as a
>"soulmate". I'm not mad at this person, but I DO disagree. I believe
>that there's someone out there especially for me. This "someone" isn't
>almost right for me. This "someone" is exactly right for me. We were
>meant to be together.
> Am I the only one here who believes this?

the one
the right one

this is the romantic dream
a dream of perfection
in a world where perfection is
a recognized impossibility

but the heart says - noooo
there must be more, I feel it
there must be a way, I feel it
the dream feels too good
to not come true

so we believe
what we read in fairy tales
and we believe
what we see in films
and we believe
what we hear in songs
and we try to make it real

but I try one way
and you try another
and we don't meet eye to eye
and we fail
even though we want the same thing

and it hurts
it numbs the mind
silences the heart

but the heart cries
and we hear it
and still want more

dare we believe again?
yes no yes no yes no yes

so we do

with a little less enthusiasm
a little less certainty
a little less trust

and you try your way and I try mine
and we miss again
strike two?
ouch...

so we tell our hearts
don't be foolish
don't be naive
don't be...

and our hearts continue beating
but that's all...

.

.

.

still... I want to believe
that as long as my hearts beats
there's always hope
I'll meet the one
who does it just like me

without trying...

honest love, ric

PS... no, you're not the only one...
