Silent Monotone

and what can we do
when words aren't enough?
when trusting an open hand
becomes too tough?

what can we say
when light strikes a spark
and all we can see
is the dark... in the dark

can I believe
I am not alone
by writing these words
my silent monotone

can you believe
I write them for you
that as you are reading
one and one is two

a simple child's rhyme
to occupy time
to express myself
to sit on a shelf

but when you repond
hope sparks once again
I pick my head up
I pick up my pen

and scribble more words
with tears in my eyes
feeling so alone
that the baby cries

and feeling so scared
from yesterday's blues
and wondering why
I'm paying more dues

the well is bone dry
but I will not die
beyond how or why
I've just got to try...

I hold out my heart
hoping you won't break it
I hold out my hand
hoping you will take it

and as you read these words
maybe you've known
and maybe I'm heard
and not so alone

not just a thought
silent monotone

and if you respond
here or at home
then that is the worth
in writing this tome

... thank you for responding...

I care into the void of silence
and hope for a sign...

thank you for giving me another one...

more please? :)
