Crossfade has had a great year thanks to their groundbreaking hit single "cold", which was named #1 record of the year on active rock radio. I was happy to hear that this hot band would be coming to town for the annual Rockfest this year. The autograph booth at the festival has always been the biggest draw for us every year and it was great because the booth was next to the stage (so I wouldn't miss a thing). Sterling opted out again this year, but I had company with the likes of fellow collectors Newt and Jane Doe.
Crossfade was the third band scheduled to sign and after seeing their performance everyone was hyped up. Unfortunately mother nature tried to make this experience less enjoyable because it started raining hard. It was weird because it had been sunny all day, without a cloud in the sky, but at least I was prepared for it. My autographs/unsigned items were safe from the rain inside my waterproof binder. This was the band that I wanted to meet most of all this day and I wasn't goig to let the weather spoil this for me.
Tony Byroads (vocals/turntables), Ed Sloan (guitar/vocals), Mitch James (bass), and Brian Geiger (drums) all sat down ready to sign for the line of awaiting fans. Each one of them were really nice, especially Ed Sloan who even let me go back behind the table to get a photo-op. Unfortunately the person manning the camera didn't learn the fine art of pressing down a button and nothing was taken, which really sucks : ( I did take some shots of them signing so at least I have a photograph of the encounter.
As usual they freaked when they saw what I brought to get signed and thought it was so awesome. I really don't see what the big deal is its basically just a picture on a comic book board, but it works. I thanked all of them and put my things up before heading into the rain to wait for Dropbox to sign. As I was waiting for Dropbox, I spotted Tony Byroads quietly sneaking into the crowds to watch Earshot perform on stage. Nobody noticed him in the crowd, which meant he could enjoy the show in peace.
