Celebrity Encounter Story told by Sterling:

I was very fortunate to be visiting New York City to see my favorite band Oasis performing at Madison Square Garden when I was notified by one of my friends about this play called Sweet Charity starring Christina Applegate. My friend found out that Christina was going to be signing outside of the theatre after the show the day I arrived in New York. She found this out when she tried the week prior to get Christina's autograph.

Christina's people notified the crowd that she was going to sign the following week, the very week I happened to be visiting. When I found out about this information I knew that it would be difficult to pass up. It's rare to find out when and where a celebrity is going to be signing, and with this juicy information I just had to give it a shot.

My friend, her mother, and myself arrived at the theatre about fifteen minutes before the show was to let out. We ran into a very nice gentleman that used to be a school English teacher that just so happened to collect photos of celebrities for himself. He was now retired from teaching, but still enjoyed his hobby of snapping photos of celebrities. He told us his stories about how certain celebrities treat their fans while doing plays in the city. It was very interesting and it helped pass the time nicely.

It wasn't too long after that when the play began to let out. We lined up against the railing that was put up by the backdoor. Christina's driver then came out and notified us on how to act when she came outside. He told us that we could get autographs and take photos of her. The only thing we couldn't do was to ask for a picture with her. This was to allow her enough time to make sure everybody got an autograph that wanted one. It was then that he went back inside the theatre and the waiting began.

While anxiously waiting for her we saw a lot of the cast from Sweet Charity exit the theatre. They would stop and sign autographs for anyone that would ask. They were all very polite. It wasn't long after that when we saw Christina Applegate exit the theatre. She began signing autographs for the crowd across from us. She was very cordial and made sure to say hello to everybody.

Christina made her way across the crowd and finally jumped over to our side, ready to sign. Everybody had a playbill from the show, so I felt kind of like a black sheep with only an index card. I've heard that a lot of celebrities don't like signing anything but the program for the show, that way the people that really went to see the show would be the only people to get an autograph. This helps keep out autograph sellers that like to push the theatre crowds around so they can snag that signature to make profit.

Anyways, when it came to my index card Christina didn't mind signing it at all. She was very nice and just kept signing away for the crowd. She even stopped and posed for the nice retired English teacher. It wasn't long before she was in her car and down the road.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Christina Applegate was a very polite and generous signer for everybody that was there that night. I still can't believe that the first night I'm in New York City I just so happen to get an autograph to add to my collection. I truly can't thank Christina enough for her generosity. I do wish Christina all the love, luck, health, and happiness the world has to offer. Thanks again Christina.
