Celebrity Encounter Story told by Earl:

Bowling for Soup were coming to town along with opening acts American Hi-Fi and Riddlin' Kids. I was really happy to hear that American Hi-Fi was one of the opening acts and hoped that I would be able to meet them as well. I was pretty busy on this particular day, which forced me to try for their autographs after the concert.

I arrived on the scene about a good 30 minutes before Bowling for Soup left the stage. It seemed that I was too late to meet the opening acts, because there was only one tour bus parked outside. This was saddening, but a bit of a relief because I forgot to bring my American Hi-Fi CD booklet.

Much time had passed and the show was now over. I had met all of the really nice guys from Bowling for Soup and was about to leave when someone familiar walked over to the guys of Bowling for Soup. It was none other than drummer turned lead singer Stacy Jones of American Hi-Fi and I couldn't believe it.

I guess the band hadn't left after all, this was the chance that I was hoping for. Stacy asked the guys of BFS if they wanted to go with him to a local club (with some of the other guys) and BFS was quick to join in. Now I was really mad that I had forgotten my American Hi-Fi CD cover at home, but this wasn't about to discourage me.

Stacy was about to head off, so I quickly asked him for an autograph even though I didn't have anything ready to get signed. He was a great guy and stopped and waited for me to come up with something. I had lost my index cards earlier in the night, but had a flyer for the show and had him sign the back of it.

Before he went clubin' I got a picture with him and talked with him briefly about the new album coming out. Stacy told me about the direction American Hi-Fi was going in and some other interesting things about the band. He was really happy that I knew so much about the band and thanked me for my support. It was my turn to do the thanking and I did so as he started walking off. This was an unexpected encounter, but I was so glad to have met him.

Final Thoughts

I didn't think I would have any luck with American Hi-Fi and ended up meeting my favorite member, Stacy Jones. He was a great guy and I couldn't thank him enough for stopping to sign. Thanks Stacy, keep up the great work!
