Andrea Thompson is a model-turned-actress-turned-TV journalist. She began her modeling career as a teen, and later studied acting at New York's prestigious Actors Studio. She landed a role in the sci-fi series Babylon V and then co-starred on the cop show NYPD Blue, where she played detective Jill Kirkendall. In early 2000 she surprised her fans by taking a job as news anchorwoman at a local television station. This is where we come in to the picture. It just so happened that she was giving up all of this fame to come here and be a news anchorwoman, very surprising indeed. This also meant that we would have a chance to meet this great actress, so we made our plans to meet her before it was too late.

       We tried to go to the actual station to get her autograph, but we had no luck there. Finally we got a lead on one of our visits to the news station. The lady at the desk told us that Thompson would be signing autographs at a local car show and we couldn't believe our good fortune. Here we are trying to meet her the hard way, when an autograph signing is already in the works. We definitely circled that date on our calendar and cancelled any plans we had.

       It was the day of the signing and we were looking forward to meeting this fine actress. We feared that she would soon end her reign as anchorwoman in such a small market and pursue greater avenues in the news field. That is exactly why we felt that getting her autograph on this day was so important. We arrived a little early and played some pool just to pass the time. It was getting closer to the time so we walked out and took a look around the car show, yes she was signing at a car show. All the sudden we spotted the one and only Andrea Thompson, who was sitting at her autograph table without a fan in sight.

       At first we were too shy to go up to the booth, but finally walked up and asked her to sign our pictures. I don't know what it is, but we must be the shyest autograph collectors in the world. There shouldn't have been a reason to be shy because Andrea was really great and signed both of the pictures without a gripe. She also didn't mind taking a picture with each of us and we were just stoked. We thanked her and she walked off to look at the cars. We noticed that she had pre-signed some 8x10 b/w pictures on the table, so we picked a couple up before heading off, nice little bonus.
