Celebrity Encounter Story told by Sterling:

If you didn't know already, you'll know now that Oasis is my favorite band in the world and I would do anything to see them in concert or even the chance to meet the Gallagher brothers. One day I was looking at their website and found out that they were set out to do a Brotherly Love Tour in the States and I just had to see them. I got my ticket the first day that they were on sale. The ticket wasn't for a venue anywhere near home unfortunately. I would have to drive to another state, by myself, because everybody I knew was busy. Well, the tour date soon neared and I was off to see Oasis in Denver, Colorado.

The town was very new to me and I had no idea how to get autograph here. Once I arrived in town my first instinct was to scope out the hotels and the venue for any sign of a tour bus. After no success of finding a tour bus I checked into a room and awaited the next day, the day of the show. I finally got some sleep after tossing and turning all night knowing that I would be able to see Oasis on stage for the first time. The next morning the sun was shining and the birds were chirping, well.....maybe they weren't, but I did know that it was the start of an autograph opportunity.

I began my journey with checking out the venue. As I drove by the venue I noticed only one bus parked out in the street near the back entrance of the venue. Knowing that it was still very early in the morning I drove off to check out some of the Hotels in town and left the bus behind. After hours of no luck finding a bus at a hotel I headed back to the venue. The bus was still there, but two more buses had shown up.

After observing the area for a bit I decided to walk down and ask security whose buses they were. They told me that they did indeed belong to Oasis! With this information, I walked around the venue one more time to see if I could spot anymore buses or band members walking about. I did come across a person that did look a lot like Liam Gallagher, but it was just a false alarm. I found some more Oasis fans waiting by the buses and decided to wait right along with them.

We talked a bit and they were very friendly individuals. It then began to rain and a few of them went to their cars to get some ponchos. They were even so friendly that they gave one to me, what nice chaps they were. Well, we waited and waited and then waited some more. We finally got to see more buses pull up near the sidewalk and we figured that they were SpaceHog and The Black Crowes buses.

During all this time, we never saw one member from any of the bands. Nearing about 4pm we were finally kicked away from the buses because we were told that it was the backstage area. We were told to stand far away if we wanted to see the band. After being pissed at security we decided to hang out a little longer. We walked all around the backstage area (which happened to be on the city street, I still don't understand how they can declare that their property) for another hour or so before we noticed another silver bus head toward us and park near the back entrance. Talk about a lot of buses. I've never seen so many for one gig before.

As we tried to get closer to see if it is was Oasis we were kicked away by security. The bus parked and out came none other then Gem Archer (guitarist) followed by Andy Bell (bass). We then could not believe our eyes when we saw the one and only Noel Gallagher (guitar, vocals) step out of the bus and into the venue. Then the all mighty and most powerful vocalist Liam Gallagher stepped out right after Noel. We yelled their names and asked for autographs, but it was no use. They were going into the venue too quickly and we were at least 50 yards away from them. What else could I do except go back to my hotel room and get ready for the show.

I arrived at the venue about an hour before the band hit the stage and my nerves were just ready to burst. I was still dazed about going to see Oasis on stage for the first time. After a nice set the opening band SpaceHog had played, it was time for Oasis to hit the stage. After about a thirty-minute intermission, "F*cking in the Bushes" started to play over the PA. It was then that I saw all the band members step onto the stage and pick up their instruments.

Liam with his tambourine, Noel and Gem with their guitars, Andy on bass, and Alan's brother on the drums. I wishes Alan (drummer) was there, but he had surgery and wasn't able to play on this tour, but his brother performed great on stage and delivered on every song. Once they were ready, they all began their first song. "Go let it Out" was the first song on the set list and it turned out to be a great introduction. It just works for them.

All through the show there was nothing but perfect playing and funny conversations from Liam and Noel on stage. The funniest part about it is that you can hardly understand a single word that they said. They performed magnificently song after song and never missed a beat. After this wonderful set, they ended with "I am the Walrus" (The Beatles cover). They did an excellent job and they walked off the stage, but not before Liam tossed his tambourine into the crowd and Noel walked off waving.

Final Thoughts

It was totally worth the long drive and worth my time and money. If I had the chance to do it again, I wouldn't even think twice about it. I hope that they stop by my hometown next time or it might look like another road trip will be planned. Even though there was no celebrity encounters on this trip, I still have to thank Oasis for the amazing show. Thanks Oasis! You are the best!
