Jesse Metcalfe was best known to fans as Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald on the NBC soap opera Passions from the show's debut in 1999 until 2004. Metcalfe returned to television as the sexy teenage gardener John Rowland on the popular ABC drama Desperate Housewives, where his character John is having a secret relationship with housewife Gabrielle Solis played by Eva Longoria. This role has skyrocketed Metcalfe into stardome and he has become a genuine sex symbol for woman, probably even men, of all ages.
Metcalfe was still deeply involved with his role in NBC's Passions when it was announced he was coming to town to sign autographs! This was too great of an oppurtunity to pass up and before I knew it I was heading to Sears... no not to buy something, but because Jesse was signing autographs there.
I arrived at the event and immediately secured a spot in line. His line consisted of young anxious girls and ladies and I felt pretty out of place standing there with them, but everyone was so nice. Someone I met was really interested in the picture I brought to get signed and she was fascinated with all of the celebrities I had met. She wanted to know more and more and this helped pass the time waiting for him to arrive because boy do I have stories to tell, ha ha.
It wasn't long until I heard screams traveling closer to my direction. No it wasn't an escaped bear that was causing the shrieks, but instead they were screams of delight as Jesse Metcalfe made his way to the autograph table. It was like I was teleported to the set of MTV's TRL all of the sudden, but it was fun. The line to meet him was really long and now I was really thankful that I had arrived so early.
Jesse was in a rush trying to accommodate everyone's requests, but he still tried to give fans his full attention. Many girls really just wanted a hug along with their autographs and he was nice about doing so. I didn't want a hug obviously, but instead brought along a picture to get signed. The store was providing pictures, but they usually aren't high quality.
Before I knew it I was standing in front of the man himself and he quickly greeted me before signing. He was surprised that I brought along my own photograph and asked where I had gotten it. After signing the picture I asked if I could get a picture with him and he was nice enough to stand up and lasso me in for a photo-op. Jesse was a little shy with everyone, but was extremely nice. I thanked Jesse and headed on my way.
This one came as quite a surprise because I was merely shopping at the mall with my mother when I spotted a sign saying a soap opera star was signing autographs at Sears. Of course this peaked my curiosity and I went to check things out and immediately recognized the man sitting down, Jesse Metcalfe.
This guy really loves Sears, ha ha. This was towards the end of his signing session and there was NO ONE in line to meet him! He was just sort of sitting there bored out of his mind. I was happy with the autographs I had of his, so I wasn't planning to go up but I just felt sorry for him and figured I might as well put him to work (ha ha).
Jesse perked up when I came over and was so much more friendly and energetic this time around. I guess just getting a chance to interact with someone again hyped him up quite a bit. I talked with him for a little bit and he signed the 8x10 b/w they were providing at Sears. I thanked him for everything and continued on my shopping quest.
