Earl's Mom was listening to the radio one day and thought she heard that a celebrity of some kind would be in town to get out the vote for Al Gore for the 2000 presidential election. Bradley Whitford was evidently going to be at the event along with possibly someone else. In this radio excerpt it also said something about Malcolm in the Middle, but she didn't hear the whole thing. All we knew was that Bradley Whitford was going to be there and that warranted a visit from Sterling and Earl.
Fortunately we were able to find out the address, but we almost never found the place due to it being in a little cafe shop that we never heard of. After driving around and asking a few people, we finally found the cafe shop. When we walked in and were very amazed that they were able to fit this many people in a small place like this. We immediately spotted Bradley Whitford and recognized his companion, Jane Kaczmarek. We were fans of the television show "Malcolm in the Middle" at the time and definitely liked her work. We had no idea that they were married, but what a great surprise this was.
Each of them had a speech prepared and tried to encourage everyone to vote for Al Gore in this election. After the speech they sat down at a nearby table and were fixing to eat a meal. We didn't know if we should interrupt them or wait until they were done. Since we thought it would be rude to do so, we both decided to hang back and wait for our opportunity. When people started to go up to them and get autographs/chat we felt it was the right time because they sure didn't mind.
The first person we went over to meet was Jane Kaczmarek. Jane was very friendly and had no problem signing autographs for the crowd in the cafe. Along with our autographs, both of us also got two pictures with her and it was such a cool experience. We especially liked her inscription that read "Obey Your Mother -Jane Kaczmarek". Both of us thanked her and then went over to meet her husband.
