Celebrity Encounter Story told by Sterling and Earl:

Tommy Chong from the "Cheech and Chong" films was coming to town to a local comedy club and this was good news because we lived close by. We were still fairly new at this and had never tried getting autographs at this venue, so everything was a question mark. Our plan was to wait in the front because there appeared to be no easy access in the back of the building. We hoped that arriving early would be a great idea because it seemed that a celebrity would also come a little early to beat the crowds.

Both of us got out of the car and waited by the entrance, ready for a long night if it came to that. Instead two minutes later Tommy Chong came strolling up to the front entrance and was trying to figure a way to get inside the comedy club. They had actually given him keys to let himself in, which is interesting.

As he was searching for the right keys, we made our move and asked for an autograph. Tommy happily agreed and along with his autograph each of us also got a picture with him as well. He didn't talk much, but seemed nice. Mr. Chong was wearing a Marijuana T-shirt and it was funny because he was acting a little stoned -which might explain the reason he was nice and happy (ha ha). This autograph hunt ended before it barely even began, which is always nice when it's a success!

Final Thoughts

Only had to wait about 5 minutes until we were proud owners of a shiny new Tommy Chong autograph. This wouldn't be the last time we came across Tommy Chong... read on.

Celebrity Encounter Story told by Sterling and Earl:

Since it was so easy getting his autograph the first time around, we hoped that this next outing for his autograph would be as simple. Last time both of us only had index cards to get signed, so this time we wanted to get pictures autographed. Ironically he was playing at the exact same venue and by now we knew the routine.

We arrived at the venue around the same time as last and really hoped it would be a fast encounter. Unfortunately it wasn't and this time we had to wait about 40 minutes. It was weird because there were others in the parking lot looking through a telescope on someone's car, I guess it was a good time to look at the stars.

The only star we wanted to see was Tommy Chong and fortunately he finally pulled into the parking lot with his wife/girlfriend. This time he was really sober and his personality was really different. Before he could make his way into the venue we asked for an autograph and he stopped and signed both of our pictures. We didn't want to bother him for a picture again, so we thanked him and were off.

Final Thoughts

This outing took a little longer but ended in the same way, with autographs. Thank you Tommy for being so good to us!
