George Herbert Walker Bush was the 41st President of the United States and is perhaps best known for leading the United Nations coalition in the 1990-1991 Gulf War. I was so excited when I found out former President Bush would be in town and getting a President's autograph is always an exciting prospect.
Sterling was in Colorado for an Oasis concert, so I knew I would be going to this event alone. I brought along a great photograph of the 41st president, but figured it would be too hard to get it signed. To make matters even worse the venue he was appearing at is very difficult to get autographs, so I came into this outing not expecting much.
I wanted to attend the event but the line for it was too big and there was no chance of attending. My next hope was to ask the secret service in the back of the building to get it signed for me, but they told me that they wouldn't be able to. Instead I walked across the street and waited with the news people and protestors.
From there, everyone waited for his motorcade to take off. After a short wait we saw George Bush and many others head into a Jeep and pull out of the garage. Bush rolled down his window and waved to the small crowd, which was cool. I got a great picture of his hand coming out of the window to remember this moment, oh well it was worth a shot.
