Celebrity Encounter Story told by Sterling and Earl:

Ray Bradbury is best known for two early science fiction novels, 'The Martian chronicles' and 'Fahrenheit 451', although he has written some five hundred published works. He is truly a great among authors and his stories will continue to thrill readers for ages to come. Mr. Bradbury was going to be signing copies of 'any' of his works at a local bookstore and we were definitely not going to miss this chance to meet a legend. Sterling and Earl were joined with friend JR on this particular autograph hunt, which we were more than happy to have the company.

We brought our books and some index cards to get signed and were pretty confident about getting them autographed. We had to wake up really early in the morning to get tickets to the event, because they handed out numbers for your place in the autograph line. JR and Earl secured numbers in line at 21 and 22, while Sterling was way down the number line in the 100s.

Bradbury was speaking before the book signing, so we made sure to arrive early to get a good seat for the speech. He told us various different stories and has quite the personality. After the speech, Mr. Bradbury sat down and immediately started signing away. Each of us got our books and index cards signed and were delighted to meet this generous man. He also agreed to pose for pictures with each of us as well, which was also very cool. For some reason he gave JR a hard time when he got a picture with him and had a good sense of humor. All of us were very satisfied with the result of this autograph session and headed home.

Final Thoughts

Ray seemed to really enjoy talking to each and every fan, which was really nice to see. Mr. Bradbury is a good autograph signer and more than worth waiting to get an autograph from. Thank you Mr. Bradbury!
