1. John MILLER was born on Aug 12 1812 in Dublin, , Ireland. Born and lived in Ireland. Moved to Cuba then to southern MO to the granite deposits. He died on Nov 13 1882 in Fredericktown, Madison Co., MO. He was buried on Nov 15 1882 in Oddfellows Cem. Fredricktown, Madison Co., MO. From steamship and passenger lists, naturalization papers and several census reports, the story emerges that John and his newly wed wife, sailed from Dublin. He had two sons already born in Ireland. Frances Clinton (sometimes called Fanny) was his second wife and he her second husband. She was 42 at the time Thomas Jefferson was born, shortly after coming to America. The 1850 Federal Census of St. Francois Co., MO shows that the Miller family was in America as early as 1839 and also rules out the chance of any other marriages. We can also surmise that John was commissioned as part of a group of skilled masons to complete some monumental work for a Cuban sugar baron in the mid 1830's. One child, George, was born there. When this work was finished this young family moved to Louisiana and then up the Mississippi to Missouri mainly because of the granite fields.
He was married to UNKNOWN before 1833 in , , Ireland.
He was married to Frances CLINTON (daughter of CLINTON and
UNKNOWN) about 1833 in Dublin, , Ireland.
Frances CLINTON was born on Nov 30 1804 in Dublin, , Ireland. Her name
appears as "Fanny" in the 1850 Federal Census and gives her age as
39 and lists Ireland as her birthplace. This would make her year of birth 1811
and not 1804 as found in the old Miller Family Bible and on her tombstone. She
died on Apr 11 1882 in Fredericktown, Madison Co., MO. She was buried on Apr
13 1882 in Oddfellows Cem. Fredricktown, Madison Co., MO. John MILLER and Frances
