Western Masonic Aid Association of Chicago, IL. While working, he was injured
and required permanent help in supporting his family along with his medical bills,
etc. So he signed over the insurance policy to the Masonic Lodge in Murphysboro
in return for their support of his family and his medical bills, etc. This will
was signed on April 25, 1895. His wife, Ella, also signed off on the will and
the insurance policy.
On November 7, 1892, John took his "Minor's Petition and Final Oath",
in which he states that he has lived in the US for 24 years and in Illinois for
19 years. This would mean that he came to the US in 1868. However, his older
sister, Francs states that she came to America in 1860, which would make more
sense because several of the children were all born in France through 1859, and
then the next one was born in the US in 1862.
