Chapter 50 Puget Sound


The following educational opportunities are presented as a public service announcement to the 

general public and NAWCC chapter 50 members.


All of the classes are open to anyone who is interested in learning Clock Repair and or Watch Repair.


Norwest Voc'Tech LLC

Watch Repair And Clock Repair classes are the same classes that were formerly

taught as evening classes at North Seattle community college (NSCC).


Classes will be held at the

Clock Repair and Restoration

Instructor Ben Weyhing NAWCC, PNTC


Starts Wednesday   January 6, 2010 at 6:30 PM to 9:00pm

The clock class will follow several curriculum starting with the beginner who will be able to disassemble a worn
movement refurbish it clean it, oil it and have it keeping proper time. More experienced students will be assisted in
their different levels of skill with their own projects. All areas of repair and restoration of clocks. Lathes, ultrasonic
cleaners, bushing tools and many specialized horological tools are included with the class along with supervised
instruction to enable the student to rapidly acquire the skills necessary to properly fix clocks.

Tuition $ 200.00 (no lab fees) for 10 weeks



Watch Repair & Micromachining

Instructor Tom Payne NAWCC, AWCI Certified Master Watchmaker, 

Wostep graduate and graduate of Wostep’s “Train the Trainer program”

Starts Thursday   January 7, 2010 at 6:30pm to 9:00pm

Learn how to evaluate and identify watches with a hands-on experience in the actual repair of your own watch.
Learn to make or alter parts for your restoration project through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on applications. Requirements include safety glasses, magnifier, small hand tools, watchmakers lathe, graver, calipers, micrometer, files,
pin vice, and other small metal working tools. Some tools will be available at the beginning of the class.

Tuition $ 200.00 (no lab fees) for 10 weeks

Building 406
"The Brig"  or Community Activity Center

From the entrance to Warren G. Magnuson Park.  Drive straight ahead for about two hundred yards to the
STOP sign.  “The Brig”, building 406, is diagonally across the street on the NE corner of the intersection.

Directions from Interstate 5:
You can exit at either NE 45th Street (Exit #169) or  NE 65th Street (Exit #171).

From the NE 45th Street exit, go east on NE 45th Street, passing the University of Washington and down the NE 45th Street overpass.  Continue east past the University Village.  NE 45th Street becomes Sand Point Way NE.  Continue on Sand Point Way NE past Children’s Hospital until you reach NE 74th Street. 

From the NE 65th Street exit, head east approximately four miles on   NE 65th Street until you reach Sand Point Way NE.  Turn left (north) onto Sand Point Way NE and continue north until you see NE 74th Street. 

Directions from State Route 520
(Evergreen Floating Bridge):

Take the Montlake Boulevard NE exit (north) and continue north past the University of Washington’s very large parking lot (on your right) and bear to the right as Montlake Boulevard NE becomes NE 45th Street.  Continue east past the University Village.  NE 45th Street becomes Sand Point Way NE and you will pass Children’s Hospital.  Continue on Sand Point Way NE until you reach NE 74th Street.
