My Squeezebox

by

Jim Allen

I play my squeeze box
On the push and the pull
When I squeeze on it hard
Then the music is full
When I play on the push
It goes do mi so do
And it's ti la fa re
When I play on the pull.

Each button's two notes
On the diatonic scale
There are no accidentals
My songs to derail
If I play up one step
I am in the next key
With the third and the seventh
Diminished, you see.

I play the bass chords
On the left-handed keys
They are tuned so they always
Make good harmony
The left and the right hand
Will always agree
So I pump out the music
As sweet as can be.

I play more on the push
Than I do on the pull
So it seems like the bellows
Will never be full
There's a neat little valve
Which I open at will
When I play on the pull
So the bellows can fill.

I sing all the ballads
Of great daring deeds
To the tunes I squeeze out
Of those little steel reeds
My box is my partner
In musical joy
And I always have fun
With this great little toy.

This can be sung to the tune of "Billy The Kid".
