Project Arts

Our class made art pictures (most people chose to draw flowers).We drew the picture first on plain paper.  Then we copied it on to a piece of aluminum metal.  If you think it's easy, think again.  Next we had to stipple (make dents) in the backround so that the picture would stand out better. To make the stippling we had to use a wooden stick; a pencil was fine too!  The hard part was to try not to make holes in the metal!   It wasn't that easy because you had to do a lot, and we mean a lot of stippling.   Once the picture was completed, we colored it in with permanent markers.  It took a while.  When we finished our pictures they came out like this.  Take a look!

Meet our Project Arts teacher

                                         Ms. Theresa Schumacher

      Project Arts is a multicultural interdisciplinary program.  I have been a  Project Arts teacher at P.S. 56 and P.S. 51 in Queens for the past 3 years and I love it.  I received my undergraduate degree from Queens College, City University of New York and am in the process of completing a Masters degree.  My hobbies include painting and sculpture.
