RESTAURANT REVIEWS

Reviewer: Maxine R.    Restaurant Review: The Wharf

The Wharf is a very nice restaurant on the water where the food is great. There is a dock so you can go look at the water and there are tables outside for those who would also like to eat by the water. There are also tables inside and if it's raining, there is an awning under which people can sit if they still want to eat outside. The bathrooms are usually very clean and the waiters and waitresses are very nice and polite. I recommend this restaurant.

Reviewer: Lauren G.    Restaurant Review: China Buffet

Although there are a lot of Chinese restaurants in Queens, over the last couple of years one stands out from the rest. That is The China Buffet located in Kew Gardens. You don't have to like Chinese food to enjoy this buffet. Not only do they have Chinese selections such as Peking Duck, General Tao's Chicken, beef and broccoli, shrimp in lobster sauce and a variety of dumplings, but they also have an abundance of seafood. This includes shrimp cocktail, raw clams and oysters, steamed clams, crabs sauteed in garlic sauce, shrimp with salted and pepper, lobster in ginger sauce, and a lot more. They also have barbecued food such as steak and shrimp on a stick. The price for all of this, including soda, is $16.95 for adults and $8.95 for children 12 and under. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant for everyone. There is also free indoor parking Mon.-Fri. after 5:00 pm and on the weekend, all the time.

Reviewer: Elizabeth F.    Restaurant Review: Steamers

If you ever visit Chincoteague Island, Virginia and need a place to eat, look no further than Steamers, a very nice and clean place.  At the end of each table, they have a garbage pail so you can throw away your crab shells without leaving the table. The waitresses are very nice and they are not pushy. Steamers is known for excellent crabs. Their shrimp is also good. They have a children's menu. On that menu I recommend fried chicken.  Steamers is creative.  Instead of giving you nutcrackers to crack open the shells they have wooden mallets. You do not have to dress fancy and there is a gift shop so the kids can have something to do while waiting for food. Steamers is located on the main road to Assateague Island.

Reviewer: Kristin W.      Restaurant Review: Beef Baron

The Beef Baron is located at the top of Clifton Hill, 5019 Centre Street, Niagara, Canada.  The "Beef Baron" is extremely elegant, yet, you can go in nice shorts and a T-shirt. The food there is delicious. You can never make a bad choice! From filet of sole to prime ribs of beef for dinner to Tartufo (chocolate and vanilla ice cream covered in a chocolate shell with strawberries) or light, creamy cheese cake with raspberry sauce for dessert, the "Beef Baron" has it all.

This is one restaurant that your younger brother or sister won't have to miss! The Beef Baron is child friendly. There is an extensive children's menu and the servers are sociable. You name it, they have it. After you are finished dining,  you can cross the street and head down to Niagara Falls.  Everyone will enjoy themselves. Note:Rating is 1-5 stars

Reviewer: Carissa H.      Restaurant Review: Jekyll & Hyde

Zombies serving you, floors creaking,  all at Jekyll & Hyde! It's located at 1049 6th Ave., New York, N.Y. 10019. "Jekyll & Hyde" has a haunted house theme.  Upon entering you're trapped in a room.  In order to get out someone must sing a song out loud. You're escorted to your table by a zombie. All the waiters and waitresses are dressed up like zombies. As you sit at your table to dine, the eyes on portraits move, statues talk, and the floors creak.  I would have to rate the decor 20, being the highest, the food rated 13, the service 19.   The cost is about $25.00 for an average meal and I rate the neighborhood an 18.  The only drawback in going to this restaurant is the line to be seated.  Be prepared for an average wait of 30-45 minutes.  Other than the wait it was a fun and interesting dinner.

Reviewer: Amy S.     Restaurant Review: The Rainforest Café

Boom....... Every 30 minutes. You may hear lightning crackling in your mind as I take you on a visit to this restaurant.   The Rain Forest Café is a restaurant that  serves you lunch or dinner.  As you are seated by the waiter or waitress you will be dazzled by how they make their restaurant look like a rain forest. You can sit under the sky (an image of the night sky), or next to the fish tanks, moving butterflies, moving elephants, or moving apes. When you are finished eating, the worst part of the evening comes: THE BILL.  After paying, as you leave, you can buy things in the gift shop. The Rain Forest Café has a kiddie menu for kids under the age of 9.  On the kiddie menu they have 2 different kinds of food. I like the meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes and the hamburger with fries and coleslaw. I think on a scale from 1-10 I would rate this restaurant a 7.

Reviewer: Melissa A.      Restaurant Review: Jekyll & Hyde

This restaurant is in Manhattan on 6th Ave. near Central Park.  Jekyll & Hyde is a remarkable place to eat. It's always Halloween there. They have great food and appetizers. They have shows and also animals talking on the walls. I found this restaurant to be fun and it's enjoyable. You can have a great time too, if your parents take you there.

Reviewer: Kinza N.     Place Review: Museum of Natural History

ROAR!! You hear the dinosaurs roaring.... RUN, or you'll get eaten. The Museum of Natural History is very good because they give you a lot of facts and a whole section for only dinosaur fossils. The museum is located in Manhatten, NY. The outside of the museum sort of looks like city hall. When you enter there is a very large dinosaur fossil. I think it's the biggest one they have. When my family and I went, we even saw a dinosaur puppet show! I want to go to the museum again because we didn't finish touring the whole museum.  It was too big to tour in only 2 hours.  At the museum they gave a demonstration of how the Triceratops might have moved it's head. I give this museum a 3 out of 5 dinosaur fossils. I recommend this museum for ages 6-10.

Reviewer: Nidhi P.     Place Review: Six Flags

Do you like amusement parks?  Six Flags is one such park with loads of rides for kids (and adults).  At Six Flags Great Adventure, the rides are great (but the bathrooms aren't) but anyone who likes rides must visit.  My favorite rides are "Medusa" and "The Batman Ride" because they're fast and fun. It is located in New Jersey. You can't finish all the rides in 1 day so you'll have to make a return visit. It's the best.

Reviewer: Colin K.      Place Review: The New York Aquarium

A good place to go with a friend or family is The New York AquariumThe New York Aquarium is located next to the beach on Coney Island. When you walk into the Aquarium there is a big tank with sharks and rays. You can see them very closely. In the Aqua theater, you can see a really great show with seals and bottle-nosed dolphins. The seals demonstrate their noises and dances. The dolphins do tricks like sky hopping and jumping up to hit a ball 20 ft. above the tank. The funniest thing is when the dolphin shows how easy it is to recycle by throwing a bottle into the recycling can. A long exhibit called "Sea Cliffs" has walruses, harbor seals, fur seals, sea otters, and penguins. My favorite is the walruses. They pound themselves against the glass and you can see their big body parts. There is usually a big crowd to see it. There is also an exhibit called "Touch a Ray". The rays felt very hard and the starfish were rough. The aquarium is a fun and educational place to go with friends or family.
