Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
by
Roald Dahl
Bored to death, are you? I've got the perfect book for you and your imagination! Check out Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. It all starts with the letter that the mayor receives. It says that Mr. Wonka (the owner of a famous chocolate factory) has hidden golden tickets in 5 ordinary Wonka Bars. Charlie (the hero and also the main character), and four other contestants have luckily found the tickets. Many strange and wonderful things happen in that mysterious yet adventurous factory. There's even a sequel to the book. It's called Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator which is also by Roald Dahl. Don't miss it! This is Katie with a review from the Critic's Corner.
Mrs.

Are you ready for adventure?
If you are ready, listen to what I have to say

because they live at the windy side of the
border, or Mrs. Frisby has to face
her youngest child's death. Her youngest
child Timothy lies with Pneumonia
and he must be moved. Luckily, she met
"the Rats of NIMH," an extraordinary
breed of highly intelligent creatures,
who come up with a brilliant solution
to solve her problem. The rats helped
her move the house to the opposite
side of the border. The plan was a
success. With a book review,

Vacation Review of My Trip to China
I went to China with my dad and
my brother on our vacation. We went to "The
Great Wall of China." It
was very exciting. There were a lot of people
there, and it was a windy day.
There was something like a maze, and no
matter where you went there was
always a way out at the other end. I counted
925 steps to go up (it was only
a small part). I climbed to about 900 meters
high of the Great Wall and I even
got a certificate. It says "Not a lucky hero
until one reached the Great Wall,
I have ascended the Badaling Great Wall." It
is hanging on my bedroom wall.
Every time I see it, it reminds me of the
Great Wall. This is Daniel
talking about my memorable trip to China.
Pokemon
Pokemon is hot because it is a
TV show. I think right now Pokemon are
very hot because people are
selling lots of Pokemon Stuff. For instance,
Pokemon games for game boy,
Play station, and Nintendo. The most important
are Pokemon cards. You can
trade Pokemon cards with your friends or battle
cards for keeps. Lots
of people collect Pokemon cards. There are 166 of
them are Pokemon. I
have 88 cards so far. The problem is that they cost
a lot. My mom makes
me use my own money to buy the cards. The other
problem is that some cards
are very hard to get, like Charzard, and
Joltion. Some
people pay extra to gets these cards. This is Rebecca
with a Kid Commentary on
What's Hot.
An
Acceptable Time by Madeline L'Engle
I read a wonderful novel for kids
and grownups called An Acceptable Time by Madeline L'Engle.
Perhaps you have read one of her many other acclaimed books such as A
Wrinkle in Time and A Swiftly Tilting Planet. An
Acceptable Time is
about a girl named Polly who can travel back through
time three thousand years
just by walking past an old rock on her grandparents' property. She
discovered this amazing way to travel into time by following a girl.
She then has a strange encounter while on her grandparents' property. She
tells her grandparents about her meeting. Soon she finds out
she is not the only one who has done this. One of her grandparent's closest
friends, Alex, has also traveled in time. Polly time travels again,
with Alex, and gets stuck in the past (in the 1400's) while a war
is going on. If she doesn't escape soon, she will be sacrificed in order
to bring rain because the people of that time believe she has special powers.
You're going to have to find out the ending by reading this book.
I highly recommend it. This is Elizabeth Pryor saying goodbye from
the Critic's Corner.
The
Dark Rising series by Susan Cooper
Magic, mystery, and adventure.
If these are the books you like, you must read The Dark is Rising
series. It is written by Susan Cooper. There are five books
in this series. They are: Over the Sea, Under Stone; The Dark is
Rising; Greenwich;Grey King; and Sliver on the Tree. Over Sea, Under
Stone is about three children who find a scroll that is over 900 years
old. While trying to figure out what the scroll means they find out
that their uncle is somehow connected to a great battle between light and
dark forces. I really enjoyed reading this book. This

Big
Daddy, the movie
Have you ever flipped through the
moview section of the newspaper to find a movie you want to see?
Well, if you want to beg your parents to see a movie, see “Big Daddy”!
I loved that movie. It was about a little boy named Julian and he
was all alone because his mom had just died. He wanted to be with
his dad but his dad was in China and could not watch him. The movie
was funny and sad at the same time! It was also very enjoyable
to watch. I hope you rent this movie if it’s not in the theaters.
This is Lian in the Critics
Corner with a good movie recommendation.
