The Little Boy and the Old Man
By Shel Silverstein " Sometimes I drop my spoon." .
said the little boy
" I do that too." said the little old man,
"Sometimes I get cranky and
have to take a nap." said the little boy,
" I understand, I do too,"
said the old man.
"Sometimes I wet my pants." The little boy whispered.
"I do too," laughed the old man.
" Sometimes I cry 'cause I'm hungry."
said the little boy.
The old man nodded. "Yes I understand." He said.
"Sometimes I'm just lonely or scared and want to be held"
said the little boy.
"It's the same for me"
said the old man.
"But worst of all, said the boy, "it seems
sometimes no one wants to pay attention to me."
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
"I know what you mean,"
said the little old man.
