| We have prepared some information about the Town that new residents may find helpful. FMountain View is a Home Rule City and covers a twelve square block area. The boundaries are: the center of Sheridan Blvd. on the east, to the west side of N. Fenton Street on the west (and) the center of W. 44th Avenue on the north, to the south side of W. 41st Avenue on the south. FThe 2000 Census Bureau Report shows that the population of Mountain View is: 568 FOur Town Hall is located at 4176 Benton Street. The hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday- except major holidays (Town Hall is also closed the 3rd Tuesday of each month due to Municipal Court sessions). FTown Council meetings are on the 2nd Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall. The public is invited, and encouraged, to attend. We have six elected council members and a mayor. FThere are three posting boxes in the Town that are used for the posting of ordinances and public meetings. They are for official use ONLY, however, anyone is welcome to review the postings. The boxes are located at: -The front of Town Hall -43rd and Ames Streets -43rd and Depew Streets FMountain View has a full-service Police Department. For emergencies call 911. For non-emergencies call 303-277-0211. For Police Administrative Offices call 303-425-1748. FMountain View is located in the Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District (which is paid for with property taxes). Fire protection is provided by the Wheat Ridge Fire Department. For Fire & Ambulance emergencies call 911. FWater for Mountain View is provided by, and billed for by, the Wheat Ridge Water District. Any reports of water problems (including water line breaks) should be reported directly to them at 303-424-2844. Billing problems can also be reported to that same number. »Wheat Ridge Water District FThere is a park in the Town which is located on the south side of Town Hall. The park may be reserved for private parties for no charge, however, a small refundable damage deposit is required at the time the reservation is made. FMountain View has an inter-governmental agreement with the City of Wheat Ridge which provides our residents with "Wheat Ridge Resident Rates" when using any of the Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreational facilities. FThe Town has a franchise agreement with Comcast for cable TV service. Their customer service phone number is 303-930-2000. Residents are still free to use any TV service provider they wish, including satellite TV. FBuilding Permits are necessary for most home improvement projects (including all types of fences). Please call the Town Hall at 303-421-7282 PRIOR to the start of any project to see if a permit is required. CAUTION: If you do work, or have work done, without a permit, you may be incurring liability in the event of fire or an accident related to the work. In some circumstances, insurance may be invalidated. Also, beginning work without the required Building Permit will double the cost of the Building Permit when it is issued. FUSE TAXES: The only use tax imposed by the Town is for motor vehicles that will be registered to an address in the Town. There is no use taxes imposed on building materials or items delivered to, or brought to, any address in the Town. The current use tax on motor vehicles is 3%. FSales Tax: The current Mountain View sale tax for goods purchased in the Town is 4%. This does not include other mandatory State and County sales taxes. FIn 1994, voters approved a ballot issue that provided for one trash service throughout the Town for all residential units. Participation is mandatory. The current contract for trash removal is with Waste Management. FInformation on special events or meetings may be hand delivered to all residents and also posted on the »Calendar page of this WEB site. FStreet Sweeping: Street sweeping is done twice a year-- Spring and Fall. All residents are notified of the exact date via a flyer place on your front door. On the day of street sweeping, everyone is asked to NOT park their vehicles on the street. FWhile pollution control actions can be taken all year long, business and citizens are encouraged to take special effort during pollution advisory periods. »Click here to learn ways you can reduce ozone pollution.
