Sewer Drainage Problems

Most slow draining, or blocked, sewer lines are caused
by a blockage in the pipes running from the main sewer
line to the house/business. Any blockages in that part
of the sewer line are the responsibility of the Owner or
Occupant.

However, if you believe that the problem is with the main
sewer line, you MUST follow the below procedures
PRIOR to contacting our Public Works Department.

1. You must first contact a professional sewer cleaning company and
have the sewer line cleaned from the sewer entry point of the
building -to the main sewer line (located approximately in the middle
of each alley). The cleaning length will be approximately 75-100
feet, depending on the entry location.

2. If the sewer drainage problem continues, the Town of Mountain View
Public Works Department will determine if there is a blockage in the
    main sewer system.
3. Should the main sewer system be the cause of the blockage, the
Town of Mountain View will reimburse the resident/owner for the full
cost of the professional cleaning service. In order to be reimbursed
for your costs, the following MUST be submitted to the Town:

	a. Copy of cleaning company statement showing sewer line was
cleaned all the way to the main sewer line.

	b. Proof of your payment to the cleaning company.
The Public Works Department for the Town can be contacted by calling
the Town Hall at 303-421-7282 during regular business hours. If the
above procedures have been followed, and the sewer blockage is
creating an emergency hazard after normal business hours, please
contact the Mountain View Police Department at 303-277-0211, and they
will be able to relay the information to the Public Works Department.
