Q: Is your database for sale?
A: Yes - with the exception of the following fields; WOC: (weeks
on chart), RFY: (ranking for year), WHP: (weeks at highest
position), ChartDebut: and LabelNo:.
Why the exception? Because our financial well-being
depends a great deal on the important information contained in
the above fields!
Collectors have already purchased copies of our Time-Life series' databases, which are listed on the opening page of this website. If you missed them, activate this link to view the libraries available. If you want to check out a sample database record select "Sample a database record" at the bottom of this page.
Q: Can/will you make digital copies of my CD's on MiniDisc
for me?
A: Yes. The cost is $10.00 plus $10.00 S & H (FedEx) for each CD/MD pair. You provide
the blank MD's, and you may use any brand you wish.
Q: Can/will
you convert vinyl albums to CD or MiniDisc?
A: Yes. The cost of conversion varies, depending on the amount of
remastering desired. A straight dub to either format (no waveform
editing) runs $60. For multiple LP's transferred to the same
CD/MD the cost is $45 each. Price includes
shipping & handling (FedEx).
Q: How do I use your database if my database program isn't
one that you support?
A: The file would be sent to you in dBASE format. So far, we've
not found any quality DOS or Windows database program that won't
import a dBASE file.
Q: What kind of equipment are you using?
A: CD player is a Sony CDP-315 with digital output. MiniDiscs
recorder/players are Sony MDS-JE500's with digital I/O's. A Sony MXD-D3 is also
used on some projects.
Q: What brand of MiniDiscs do you use?
A: We use Sony "clears" and TDK's. If you desire a
different brand for your collection, you would have to send us
the blanks.
Q: Will you trade for 60 min. MD's as well as 74 min. MD's?
A: Yes - as long as it's a 60 for a 60 or a 74 for a 74!
Q: Will you make multi-artist/multi-song MD's?
A: Yes. However, you would have to do the track-titling yourself.
And we would expect you to do the same for us!
Q: Will you trade .mp3 or .vqf files?
A: I will trade .mp3 files on CD-r only - not over the internet.
I WILL NOT trade .vqf files because there currently is no way to
convert said files back to .wav format.
Q: Why are you looking for replacement cuts for many of the
selections you already have in your library?
A: As it says on the "Want List" main screen, currently
about 5% of our library has been salvaged from vinyl records
we've scrounged from friends and found in public libraries.
Unfortunately most people have not taken very good care of their
own records!
Also, some of that 5% was on some old cassettes that survived the fire that destroyed the original collection. And about 300 "Good Time Oldies" selections are good quality taped copies of GoldDiscs from some of the radio stations we've done work for.
Q: Will you trade for MD copies of vinyl records or tape?
A: Yes, BUT, we expect they would be of good quality
and properly recorded. As a matter of fact, a vast
majority of the titles on our "want list" will probably
never be made available on CD.
