NCLB's Effect

There are a total of 30 million students without music programs. Many people wonder why the U.S. is considered one of the least educated of the developed countries. Each generation gets less music education which creates the need to make laws such No Child Left Behind.

The next generation keeps getting less music education which is causing us to start having laws like No Child Left Behind (NCLB) so we can compensate for the lack of education that the new generation has.

Schools interpret NCLB as being a warning that unless test scores go up they will have their funding cut. It is sad but music is taken out because of that interpretation. Though if schools don't raise their test scores first they are targeted for assistance. Then corrective action will take place. In most cases that can possibly mean restructuring of the the school.
