Why Music Is Important in Our Schools

Music improves your life long ability to learn, as well improving grades and increasing standardized test scores. That is why music should be a graduation requirement and not just another elective.

It also has a integral bond with math as the famous Greek philosopher Pythagoras taught. Music follows the same guiding principals as math does. Many parts of math are used in music such as time, fingers, slide positioning, everything. That's why music helps people in math.

It can help them bring grades overall concentration. Students also are less likely to do drugs if they're in music.

Though it doesn't seem like it, schools do care about music education. In most schools improving test scores outweighs music education programs, this may be due to misinterpretation school make about NCLB.

Principles don't want fire staff because budget cuts but its inevitable usually. We need to follow the ancient Greeks when it comes to music education. For Greek students, music education was a requirement along with the rest of the other fine arts.
