Our Florida Vacation         Part 2     go nite owl

We arrived early at the Kennedy Space Center.  This is one of the largest buildings .. where the shuttle is maintained and assembled with the rocket boosters before launch. The Colombia is readied for launch.

That's an enormous Saturn rocket on display. There was a moon rover and an imitation Moon rock

We saw an IMAX movie, took a bus tour around the 200 sq. mile wildlife reserve,  experienced a rocket launch, moon landing, and played in the rocket garden...

It was an educational day trip, for more on the space info try: http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/

A short distance from the motel, is the turkey creek nature area.  It includes a nice boardwalk thru the swamp where you can look for aligators or call grandma on the cell phone.

  We really enjoyed the beach!

The ocean beaches are really out on a very long island connected to the mainland by causeways

One afternoon I walked to the top and scootered back down.    A Biologist from the Environmental Learning Center was measuring the annual growth of the red mangrove plants

We visited the state park at Sebastian inlet 17 miles south of the motel.

There is a bridge, egrets, jettys for fishing, and a campground.

They went boarding behind large Kites.   Really big Kites

The kitchenette, cabin was comfortable.      The ocean front patio was a nice place to relax.

We ate the pineapple and planted the top.  Hope to go back to check on that pineapple plant...

Those were some of the largest yucca plants I ever saw.

We stopped to visit my brother's family in Illinois after 14 hours on the road.

There was ice on the car the next morning we were up early for a 6 hour ride back to Kansas City...
