Esther Williams Biography (Bio):

Born August 8, 1923 in the town of Inglewood, California. A leading actress in 1950's Musicals.

Esther Williams is best known for her swimming roles in movies, before Hollywood she was a champion swimmer.
Esther grew up loving to swim, swimming at local pools. She once got a job at a nearby pool so she could earn money to swim. As a member of the Los Angeles Athletic Club swim team, she wins national titles in the breaststoke and freestyle.

This photogenic teen swimming champion is noticed by Billy Rose, who casts Esther in a swimsuit extravaganza - the Broadway musical Aquacade. Esther Williams signs with MGM and her first movie musical is Bathing Beauty in 1944. Moviegoers love her aquatic movies - with elaborate sets; beautiful swimwear costumes; and grand syncronized swim productions.
