This surname is also spelled SWAGART, SWAGERTY, SWAGGERT, SWEIGERT, SWIGERT, SWYGERT in some records and sources.


(1) Frederick SCHWEICKHART/SWAGERT, b. about 1729/30 probably in Germany, d. unknown (probably late 1790s) probably in Cocke Co. or Greene Co., TN; m. 1st, probably between 1749-1752 in PA, to wife unknown; m. 2nd, probably in VA, to wife unknown (possibly a MCKAY); he resided in Lancaster Co. & Cumberland Co, PA, and later in Greene Co. & possibly Cocke Co., TN; his children (there are probably other children):

        i. Abraham, b. about 1755; 
       ii. Sarah Elizabeth "Betty", b. about 1765, m. Joseph Christopher OHAVER [Jr.]; 
      iii. John, b. about 1765-70, m. Phoebe POTTER; 
[#2]   iv. James [Sr.], b. about 1773, d. about 1868, m. Delilah MEEK. 
Frederick came from Germany to America on the ship "Dragon" which arrived in Philadelphia on 26 Sep 1749.


(2) Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" SWAGGERTY, b. about 1765 in PA, d. unknown probably in Sullivan Co., IN; m., about 1789 probably in Greene Co., TN, to Joseph Christopher OHAVER [Jr.] (b. about 1766, d. 20 Jul 1833).
