The "catechesis" of singing the Acclamations
"The acclamations [gospel acclamation, doxology after the Lord's Prayer, and eucharistic acclamations - including the special acclamations of praise in the Eucharistic Prayers of Masses with Children] are the preeminent sung prayers of the eucharistic liturgy. Singing these acclamations makes their prayer all the more effective. They should, therefore, be sung, even at weekday celebrations of the Eucharist. The gospel acclamation, moreover, must always be sung." Music in Catholic Worship,17
The challenge of singing the Acclamations at Daily Eucharist
Many parish communities already sing some music at daily Eucharist, even if they often aren't acclamations. This Mass setting makes it plausible and possible to sing with ease the most important pieces of music in Eucharist, as they should be repeated at all the celebrations of a particular season. Perhaps communities are already singing the acclamations, and need variety for the various seasons.
An easy, costless way of everyone learning the Acclamations
These unaccompanied acclamations are free for your use, and because they are easy to memorize, all the daily Mass attendees can actually learn the music on line! If you need a copy of the printed set, I can fax them to you free of charge. The texts for these easily-memorized acclamations are below, and can be printed at your computer at home or office. Midi-file sound clips of the melodies are on line at this website below, and can be copied onto your home computer desktop! The printed set of music can also be purchased; see below.
