The Livery Stable

The Livery Stable is built out of thin plywood salvaged from a clementie box. Unlike the General Store, there are a few warped pieces of wood in this building. Even so, the building still has a solidity that balsa cannot provide. The signs come from Gary Chalk's article in issue 160 of Wargames Illustrated.

The Interior

The interior of the stable was a step up from the General Store but is still fairly simple. The single room has a series of simple stalls for horses. The stove is a 1/4 inch scale caboose stove. The coat and hat hanging on the wall are pieces of cut and painted paper. The ladder is scratch built from long wooden q-tip dowels. The exterior corner boards are made of paper painted green to match the trim around the doors. I have not (yet) attached doors to the openings. I suspect that it may be too late to effectively do so.

In order to get the most use possible, I made the second floor removable. The hook is a piece of maddeningly small wire bent into a hook and glued to a piece of thread. I cut two small holes through the piece of balsa with a tap drill to string the thread through.

Before anyone asks, the thread is glued in place. I'm not that crazy.
