The General Store is built out of thin plywood salvaged from a clementie box. This gives the building a solidity that balsa cannot provide. The signs come from the MicroTactix Vulture Gulch set. The windows are 1/4 inch scale plastic kit pieces purchased from a dollhouse store.
The interior of the store is fairly simple. There is a single room filled with a combination of store-bought items and handmade furnishings. The stove, for example, is a 1/4 inch scale caboose stove. The wood bin is a piece of plastic tubing cut on a bias and painted black. A small piece of twine, also painted black, serves as a handle. The firewood is small shavings from earlier cuts. The bolts of cloth are a cardboard/paper lollipop stick partially unwound and painted. The items on the shelves are all bits of wood and the like that have been painted various colors. The coffee grinder and sacks are purchased (I have not been able to make a sack that I am happy with.).
