Note on the Pictures:

Say "Hello" to Smitty by e-mail. I appreciate your comments!
The man who sold me my camera told me that his wife claimed she took a lot more pictures than he did. His answer to her was, "Of course...You take pictures, I take photographs!" ......Hmm...Well...

I had a lot of fun taking these pictures. Thanks for looking at them. I have found that taking these pictures has become a great way to focus my attention when I am in a place that I like. My tendency had alwas been to keep moving (hiking or driving etc.) or to stop and eat. Now I am spending more time in an interesting place and getting more out of it. And bringing home the pictures is an extra bonus to the experience... They are all taken in the San Francisco Bay Area unless otherwise noted.

Ok,.... Forgive me, it's been more than a year since my last update. As of now (sometime in September 2006) I've added some new stuff.....and rearranged some stuff.....I think there will be some more pictures coming soon....I really have been putting off a lot of editing. Its more fun to take the pictures!

All the pictures are reduced in size for easier download and display to apx 800 x 600. Sorry, some degradation in picture quality has happened... ... ... ... Ouch!... ... ...It hurts... ...

(If you're saying "Why'd he do that?" let me know and I'll get you bigger better quality ones. I really mean it... See that mail-to thing up there ^ ? Give me a buzz...)

Someday I might even take a photograph....I'll let you know...

See below for some slightly techie stuff...

Click on a small picture on one of the pages to view a big version. It may take 30 seconds to a minute (or two) to load.

My pics tend to be very contrast-y. If they appear too dark please adjust the brightness and contrast a bit on your monitor.

When the picture has finished loading it may be larger than your browser window.
(Most are now about 800 x 600 pixels) (Some of the panorama types are larger.)

By the way the newer versions of Internet Explorer (V.6.0.26) and Netscape (7.1)  automatically reduce the pictures to fit your browser window. A great step forward!!

You can RIGHT-click on a picture and choose "Save Image As..."(Netscape) or "Save Target As..." (Internet Explorer) and choose a file on your hard-drive to save it to.

Then by DOUBLE-clicking on the file name in "My computer" you can usually display it very quickly and in the dimensions you prefer with whatever picture viewing software is installed in your machine.

(You don't have any? This is very unusual these days but you can find one here: VuePrint is found here.  It costs $40 after a 15 day trial period. It is also a good screen-saver program .)

Mac-People, I know you are special and can figure out how to do all this on your own. I am NOT special and can give you no help on the Mac-way of doing things. We love you anyway...
By the way, if your operating-system is "Windows ME" or "Windows XP" then you have a very cool picture viewing screen saver already built-in.

Just RIGHT-Click on your desktop and choose "Properties", the "Screensaver" tab, and scroll down the list of screen-savers and choose "My Pictures Slide-Show".

Click on the "Settings" button and Browse to the file where you are saving your coolest pictures (mine of course...) and it will play them as a screen-saver.

Happy viewing...

(When you get tired of that go read a BOOK.)
(Don't forget to look at some ART. You will find some links to Real PHOTOGRAPHY there as well.)
