private sessions

What is a private session?

 A private session is an opportunity for you to address the limitations of your body in its strength and range of movement, and to find ways of navigating around or moving past those limits through the design of a personal strategy of movement and exercise that acknowledges and works with the reality of your body at the present time.

Why would I get a private session?

No matter how good the quality of instruction in a class or video or book, you may feel that you either ‘cannot do’ some exercises you would like to do, or that your strength and range of motion isn’t improving when you do the exercises the way you do them. A private session will acquaint you at a deeper level with the ways you move your body, and will show you what you need to do differently to meet your goals.

What kinds of private sessions are there?

 I give private sessions in yoga and in Pilates (and sessions that include both).  The kind of session we do can be determined by any of the following: your choice, your goals, your level of strength and your movement range.

What happens during a private session?

 In our first session, we look at your lifestyle history and current health issues. Then we assess the way you pattern movement in your body while we focus your physical awareness at a deeper level. We assess your range of strength and motion, and then test out a series of exercises that address the reality of your body in the context of your goals and issues. At the end of the session, we do a meditation and relaxation exercise designed to integrate the deeper changes we have made.

Subsequent sessions may include a brief update on your current lifestyle and range of movement, followed by body awareness exercises, and movement and exercise additions and modifications.

How much do private sessions cost?

Please call during regular business hours for current availability and pricing.

Are private sessions for students only?

No… however, if you are not a current or former student, or have never worked with me before, we will discuss at length your goals for the sessions before we meet.

How can I make an appointment for a private session?

Please call me or e-mail me (see my contact information) to set up an appointment.
