January 8, 2009
The MJS College Football Standings rank Division 1A teams in order of
rating. A team's rating is computed as the sum of its winning
percentage plus its strength of schedule (SOS). A team's SOS is
computed as:
SOS = 0.7 * [(average rating of opponents) - 0.5]
A positive SOS means a team's schedule is stronger than average. A
negative SOS means it is weaker.
Non-Division-1A opponents of Division-1A teams are treated as a single
team "x" and a rating computed for it in the same way.
