The Wash

My self esteem in the wash
Tub spinning, going 'round.
Back and forth in the wash,
I'm being pushed around.

Cold or hot,
Tub spinning fast… sometimes unkind.
What temperature do I pick
That myself clean
I will find.

Tide, Cheer, Surf, or All,
With me in the water spinning around.
What do I need to choose to keep
My threads 
from breaking down?

The rinse cycle is next…
Water is faster, going 'round.
Do I need a softener
Or something for hard water here in my town?

When the wash
Is finally done,
Will I feel clean
Or just undone?
