ANGELHAIR CREATIONS PORTFOLIO |
| SWEATERS |
|
Sweaters are fun to design and knit. I like unusual patterns and stitches
which lend interest to the overall garment. These are some of my creations knitted for
my own use and for other people. |
 |
The lacy cropped cardigan is knit from natural white handspun merino wool.
I customized this commercial pattern for a better fit and to have more spring
in the ribbing. The lace edging has been knitted in place (rather than sewn on)
for a smoother look. The body of the sweater has a lace pattern similar to
the black vest. It is available in several adult sizes.
The yarn is sport weight. It can be made of alpaca and can be lengthened for a more
classic look. |

This bulky weight, man's cardigan was custom-designed, hand-spun and hand-knit
for an alpaca breeder in Illinois. Made from his favorite sire's fleece, it is so warm,
he can wear it as a coat! It weighed in close to three pounds.
Extra spring was designed into the yarn and pattern to compensate for the weight and
size of the garment. Contrary to a popular myth, alpaca can be knit successfully with
lots of spring. This sweater is living proof! |

Crochet is a great medium for softly spun alpaca. This picot grid
stitch is light-weight and airy. This sweater was handspun for
an alpaca breeder who wanted to wear her animals' fiber. The tweedy
look results from plying black and white singles for a "barberpole" two-ply yarn.
Contrasting ribbing is natural jet black, a color only available from
the alpaca species. This pullover is great to wear by itself or layered with a camisole or blouse.
It can be reproduced in commercial or handspun yarns. |

This colorful tunic sweater is a custom design. It has batwing
sleeves and a boatneck collar with ribbing around the arms, neckline and
bottom edge. The black background accentuates nine other bright jewel tones
in the sweater. The sawtooth color pattern is courtesy of Kaffe Fassett.
All yarns are commercial mohair, some are hand dyed. It looks great with
leggings and can be customized to any size and color pattern. It can also
be made with worsted weight alpaca or wool.
