| SHAWLS |
| Not just for Grandma anymore, shawls have come out of the closet! And what
better, more drapeable fiber to use than alpaca. These alpaca shawls are the height
of fashion and feel and look wonderful on that special night out! |
 |
This 100% alpaca shawl is a dreamy evening wrap.
It is handwoven in a complex lace pattern of commercially spun alpaca
yarn. The natural indigo and cochineal
dyes mirror the wonderful softness of the fiber. |
 |
These lace knit shawls are my favorite projects to date. I hand-spun the brown fiber
into a fine 2-ply worsted yarn which drapes beautifully in knitted lace.
The red shawl is knit from commercially spun, cochineal-dyed alpaca yarn.
This is actually a tea cloth pattern which I adapted to be a shawl.
In deep chocolate brown or jet black alpaca, this shawl can be worn over your
most formal dress. Fold it in half and drape it over your shoulders on those
cool summer evenings! |

|
Fringe on all my woven shawls, scarves and ruanas is finished in a 2-ply twist to
preserve the yarn and to avoid
tangles, lending a very neat and bouncy, finished look to each garment.
These woven shawl fabrics in medium and heavy weights can also be
used for blankets and throws.
Any of these items can also be made from mohair, wool or blends of these
fibers.
