English Gone Bad

Just for laughs, I figured I'd post an example of the memos Chris gets from E-Village management. The building manger is actually a Sri Lankan named Jackie who can speak Japanese (but not write it) and speaks/mostly writes English. the memos are often strange, and I figured you'd appreciate the fact that these memos are supposed to keep three buildings of mostly young (18-24) singers, dancers and performers in line. This is an exact representation of a memo sent to the residents of E-Village. I have retained the same formatting, syntax, and spelling, including the way the Japanese write the date. Enjoy.

WARNING!

At midnight of Monday, June 9, it was found that a fire distinguisher have been misused and contents are splashed in front of the elevator on the 9th floor of A Building and inside the elevator. A fire distinguisher placed between the elevator hall on the 4th floor and the staircase was found missing.

Although we are planning a Fire Drill on Wednesday, June 25 and some of you may be practicing to use the fire distinguisher, this will not be considered as a laughing matter.

On the event of fire, if the fire distinguishers are found empty or not at the places it was positioned, a real disaster may occur. This is a matter of life and death.

We have been receiving reports that same kinds of prank have been observed quite often in April. Like tearing off the mat on the wall of an elevator and throwing it down from upper floor. Not only garbage bags containing china, desks and even bikes are thrown down from upper floors.

No excuse like "I was drunk" or "just a joke" can be accepted for such deeds. Not only these kinds of incident disturb other residents and neighbors, it may result in an accident seriously injuring some body not only people inside E-Village.

Police and Fire Department may come to investigate to find out who was the cause of the accident.

Please make sure to refrain from such an act, and if you find anyone acting like that, stop them and report to E-Village Manager or the Security Guard immediately.

Thank you for your attention
