Mlle. Alexandrina - Circa 1860's/1870's
She is pictured on the front of the CLIPPER 28 January 1871 as 'premiere danseuse' born Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1851, and came as a young teenager with her family to settle in Buffalo, NY.
She made her first stage appearance at the Metropolitan Theatre in 1866 in FAUSTUS, and afterwards appeared in THE BLACK CROOK and HUMPTY DUMPTY on the road. Also appeared in variety at Fox's, Philadelphia etc. (She is noticeably prettier than the usual continental ballerinas! but seems to have been a much less talented dancer).
There was a Mlle Alexandrine, ballet dancer, who was in the chorus of the BLACK CROOK revival at Niblo's in 1871-2 .. and I suspect that was her limit.....K.G.
