Alice Zavistowski - Circa 1860's/1870's - One of the 'ZAVISTOWSKI SISTERS'

Mother was née Christine Ludlam, and she had 2 daughters, Alice and Emmeline. The three of them went out in an act together, playing burlesque and variety, as 'the Zavistowski sisters'.

Frequently seen on the west coast. 'Miss Alice, from her petite figure and pretty, sparkling black eyes, is the pet of the public. Her execution in jig dancing, for neatness and grace of step, has no parallel on the stage. Miss Emmeloine full of buxon life and vigour is one of nature's own beautiful blondes and gifted with a rich soprano voice...'. That review came from Kansas.

The girls - copied the Lydia Thompson style and repertoire, without getting anywhere near the great Lydia in either class or success....K.G.
