ALICE HARRISON, American actress and singer born England as Alice Maude METZ. Died 111 West 45th St 2 May 1896

 Made her debut in 1861 at the Chestnut Theater Philadelphia and played there in stock for several seasons. Her first appearance on the Broadway stage was in 1866 in THE ICE WITCH. In 1868 she played in HUMPTY DUMPTY, in 1869 THE PAGE'S REVEL, in 1870 in THE GOLDEN BUTTERFLY.

 She then set herself up as a star, and went touring with a repertoire of plays (THE BOY DETECTIVE &c). She spent a period at San Francisco's California Theatre, and then moved into opera-bouffe playing in GENEVIEVE DE BRABANT (1874) and LE PETIT DUC at Boston.

 She then joined up with her brother Louis HARRISON to tour in the musical comedy PHOTOS which lasted several seasons on the road. She later appeared as Yum-Yum in THE MIKADO on Broadway, and as Javotte in THE MAID OF BELLEVILLE, before her health gave way. Her last important role was as the comic maid in OUR FLATS.
