Mary Ann Norman's paternal grandparents, Ann Harker & Thomas Norman, were said to have lost their baby during their voyage, to America from England (about 1830), & were forced to bury their child at sea.

CARLSON, REAR, ERICKSON, - posted 15 June 2001
Hi, I would appreciate any help on looking up the following.
My Grandfather was Nels CARLSON born in Norway on Aug. 22, 1877, Came to Montevideo in 1897 to live with his uncle E.O. ERICKSON. He married Julia M. REAR (daughter of Halvor E. REAR) on June 13, 1900.
His Naturalization papers (dated Dec. 21,1898) registered in the village of Montevideo says he was born in Norway &/or Sweden. I am looking for any information as to his parents and family that may be on his application to stay in the USA. Any contact with his or my grandmother's family would be appreciated. Nels McKay (n.g.mckay@bmts.com)
RINDAL - posted 1 May 2001
Looking for Jørgen RINDAL, born 25 April 1873 near Dovre, Norway. Came
to the U.S. with his sister, Olina, on 01 June 1893. Olina, my
great-grandmother went on to Clifford, ND where she married my
great-grandfather, Matias Brandon. The Rindals who remained in Norway
(Dovreskogen) have some old letters from Jørgen. He wrote that he was
living in Montevideo, Minnesota, Chippewa County. One letter was dated
29. Nov 1931. He mentioned in the letter that he bought a 100kg pig for
$8.00. He did marry but I do not know the name of his wife. They had
children, but I do not know their names. He probably Americanized his
1st name (John, George???). He might have died a little after his letter
in 1931. I hope this sounds familiar to someone out there. Christian P. Grorud.
FRAMKE, PEARSON
I'm looking for information on the family of Esther Albertina Pearson, born Swede Prairie Township, believed near Montevideo, Minn. She was born May 18, 1894 in a sod cabin to Andrew Pearson, born 1861 Sweden and Severina Haroldson Pearson born 1868 Sweden. Any information, on the parents and other children in her family would be Most appreciated. She married Albert William Henry Framke in Camby, Minn. on June 26, 1912.
The moved to Monona County, Iowa after the marriage to make their home. Steve Framke.
HVIDAAS, AMUNDSON, KINNEY
I found your very interesting Montevideo pages today when searching for information about my grandmother's sister.
Her name was Gunhild (Nellie) Hvidaas. She emigrated from Norway in 1902.
In 1906 I think she was living in Boyd, MN. She was then married to a man called Albert Amundson..
Some time between 1908 and 1916 she must have moved to Montevideo.
She still lived in Montevideo in 1945. By then she was married to Elwood Kinney. He was a barber. Maybe he had his own barber shop. Their adress was 213, S. 1st. street.
Do you know where I can find some information about them? I am interested in all kinds of information. Thanks and regards,

Atlas and Farmer's Directory of 1914
The information contained in the following Atlas is currently being transcribed by Ann McRoden Mensch in 1998, and will be posted as completed. The information printed in the Atlas should not be assumed complete and may contain errors, however, it may be very useful for genealogical research leads and as additional evidence to confirm or refute data from other sources. It may also help in identifying neighbors and friends who may be mentioned in family letters, stories, etc.
The source used bold print for the surnames, and enteries are arranged in 3 columns as seen here. The line breakoffs for each individual entry may not show in your window as they break in the page.:
