Add in an Alpha (but reasonable) hero and a kick-ass (but feminine) heroine, and I was all set for an enjoyable evening. Set in the far-off future when humans have joined other space-faring races to form the Galactic Alliance, this is a fun, exciting universe filled with adventure, aliens who aren’t terribly “alien” unless they’re enemies, and super-hot alpha Prime warriors determined to claim their mates and protect them forever. The story flows smoothly for the most part. There are lots of scenes of Melina killing aliens and getting banged up, but there is also plenty of relationship-building as well. There are also some plot tangents that make for a more complex story with potential for sequels. Melina is a nice balance between the tough battleship commander and the woman who wants her mate. I was happy when Wulf didn’t make the “you little woman” pronouncements and mistakes when dealing with Melina. I was kind of dreading that as it seems to be the obvious, easy route that many authors take. The only area that I felt was lacking was that of sex. There just wasn’t enough! They didn’t consummate until halfway through, and it wasn’t very hot or exciting when they did. Other than that, I loved everything about Prime Obsession and highly recommend it.
