Dear Friends,
Thank you for visiting the Web Site of Metropolitan
Community Church (MCC) Rehoboth. We are a progressive and growing
congregation grounded in the unconditional all-inclusive love of God as
expressed through the Christ Way.
In 2002, MCC Rehoboth became affiliated with The Center for Progressive
Christianity (TCPC), an organization based in Cambridge, Massachusetts,
that seeks to foster the ideals of progressive Christianity - a
Christianity that is forward-thinking, inclusive, and not afraid of
intellectually engaging our faith in Jesus Christ. MCC Rehoboth is
currently the only congregation in Delaware that is so affiliated, and
one of only a handful of MCC churches that are part of the TCPC network.
Our members and friends are on a journey together toward wholeness, as
expressed in healing of mind, body, and spirit. It is our hope
that you will enjoy browsing this site and recognize something that
attracts your interest. Our many activities are open to all,
whether you are a first time visitor or have been with us for many
years. We are a hospitable community seeking to empower God's
Presence and Power inwardly, mutually, and in the greater community.
Come and explore Christ's Lighthouse at the Beach.
Wishing you
peace and joy.
Rev.
Tom Bohache

The Rev. Thomas Bohache became the Pastor of MCC
Rehoboth in July of 1998. Credentialed as clergy in 1988, Rev. Tom has
served congregations in Los Angeles, CA, Roanoke, VA, and Fairfax, VA.
Originally from Los Angeles, Rev. Tom was raised in the Roman Catholic
tradition, but left the church at age 19 due to sexuality issues. He
began attending Metropolitan Community Church in 1981, serving in a
variety of lay ministry positions before beginning the clergy
preparation program in 1986.
Rev. Bohache has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Languages from
U.C.L.A. and a Bachelor of Theology degree from Samaritan College, as
well as Master of Arts degrees from the University of Virginia (Bible
and Church History) and Georgetown University (Ethics and Comparative
Religion). Rev. Bohache is also a published biblical scholar, having
contributed an essay to the anthology Take Back the Word: A Queer
Reading of the Bible (Pilgrim Press, 2000); his most recent
publication was an article in the Journal of Theology and Sexuality
(Sheffield Academic Press, UK, Fall 2003) entitled “Embodiment as
Incarnation.”
It is the Pastor’s sincere belief that God’s
unconditional love extends to everyone, and his weekly sermons always
stress the goodness of every human being and our opportunity to journey
toward wholeness in every area of our lives.
