'History' behind switches in R/C: In my research to learn more about the inner workings of Radio Control equipment, I ran across Tony van Roon's website. It is here that I saw a design for a simple but effective 'switch'. This design, as it turns out, was originated by Ken Hewitt and published in an article in RCM&E Jan 1996. Modified by Tony to accommodate newer components, Ken's design is what forms the core of the switches I make. Produced under permission from both Ken and Tony, I am proud to be able to offer these switches so that more 'pilots' can experience the fun and challenge of Aerial Photography, Night Flying or to simply add some other functionality to their R/C model (more inside) in an easy to use, and affordable package. I welcome you to visit both of their websites for more (and intriguing) 'Solid' projects! How it all started: I started out making switches in the summer of 2002 for myself and friends. Since we had been flying our Tiger Moths with Qual-Comm packs, the added power capacity of these cells easily allowed the addition of LED's for night flying. I thought it would be a great idea (if not fun) to be able to control the 'navigation' lights while on the ground and in the air, little did I realize just how much interest there would be in adding lighting control. I'm not saying I was the first to do this, as now there are several great products out there to choose from, but it's nice to see that it is an achievable feat with today's lightweight park and backyard flyers! Now with Lithium Polymer batteries becoming more readily available, the increased energy density of these cells opens up the doors to even more outrageous lighting possibilities...stay tuned on that front!
Thank You for visiting, and I hope you enjoy this website! And as always, I appreciate any/all feedback (good and bad) so please feel free to e-mail me. I'd love to hear from you! Regards, Roger
Note: Please be patient as this website is W.I.P. (work in progress). I will be adding more content from time to time so please, check back. I will strive to maintain the 'update' at the top of this page so can tell at a glance when something new has been added.
