HISTORY OF CARDINAL SUPER CHESS!

Cardinal Super Chess and Super Checkers was created by the Jones Family one Christmas Eve. We were all thinking about chess and how much we liked the game when the thought of adding a new piece enthused us. after we decided to call it the Cardinal and placed it on either side of the King and Queen, we developed the movement.

Cardinal Super Chess is a natural expansion to the classical game of chess. This chess game has a new piece called the Cardinal and gives players of all levels a chance to use their strategy in combating new opening, middle and end game challenges.

It is an exciting game for the beginner or the masters to tackle and you will be eagerly enthused whether you are a tournament or a hobbyist player. Even though it has great strategy moves, the Cardinal chess piece movement will strengthen your own strategy and enhance your performance on the playing board. "Once tried, twice liked". Because of the Cardinals' unique movement, a combination of a knight and a bishop, it gathers the initiative into one sweeping action.

The significane of the Cardinal is that it was created, in an effort, to balance the power of the clergy on the playing board.

For example, the Rook and Knight are considered military pieces. There are four military pieces to each player in the classical game. Using the same perspective, there are two Bishops given to each player which represent the clergy respectfully. With the two Cardinals, the clergy power has been increased to four pieces, (2 bishops and 2 cardinals) thus resulting in a balance not previously established.

The playing board has 100 squares to accommodate the movement of the Cardinal and the fields of play have been extended.

Super Checkers is played the same way as regular checkers and with the exception of 20 checkers per player and a bigger board. You can also play Draughts on the 100 square board, which is a form of checkers played in Europe.
