Matrix Development Group was originally founded as a limited partnership in 1991 by Steven Speck and his partner to provide database development services to corporations in the Phoenix area. Major clients included MicroAge Corporation and others.

In 1994, the partnership was dissolved by mutual agreement so the partners could pursue other interests. Steven retained a controlling interest in the business and restructured the business to provide consulting services to the small business community. 

In late 1995, with the advent of the World Wide Web, the focus of the Matrix Group was changed to provide web site development and design services to the small business community as well as the non-profit educational sector. 

The Matrix Group continues to provide these services to the present day.
