LESSON CRITERIA

Goals:

The purpose of this is:

  • To educate students on healthy relationship skills for the purpose of improving their social and interpersonal interactions in school and throughout their work and home lives. 
  • Sustain open communication with students at a time when relationship patterns are being developed. 
  • To give students a safe means of gaining access to information and resources that address their needs and allow them to come to school better prepared to learn.
  • To back schools in their current efforts to provide healthy relationship instruction and meet anti-violence education requirements.
  • To address NYS Learning Standards through age-appropriate lessons that have practical application in everyday life and relevance to the curriculum.
  • To ease the high demand on Domestic Violence Agencies who do not have the resources to accommodate the growing number of schools requesting their services. 


Criteria for Linda’s Lessons:

Posted lessons will:

  • Be appropriate for a student in grade 7-12.
  • Be clear and easy to follow.
  • Address at least one of the NYS Learning Standards. 
  • Actively engage students in the learning process.
  • Be a natural extension of the curriculum.
  • Clearly focus on at least one characteristic of a healthy relationship.
  • Be a completely original lesson, or clearly credit the original author for his or her portion of it.


Additional Guidelines:

  1. Entries may be from an individual or from a team.  Individuals or teams may submit more than one  entry. 
  2. All entries should be in MS Word format in Version 2000 or later.
  3. All entries become the property of the family of Linda Neely to be used for the sole purpose of providing quality materials at no charge to any educator who wants to use them to promote healthy interpersonal behaviors among students. 
  4. Last names will not be posted online unless requested.
  5. We reserve the right to edit entries before posting.  Not all entries will necessarily be posted.
  6. Entries should be submitted electronically to LindasLessons@gmail.com.
