Marney's Fruity Booties

Sole
Cast on 10 stitches on #1 (new born), #2 or #3 needles for sole in Main Color (MC). Work back and forth over 2 needles in garter stitches (K all around for 36 rows, 18 ridges).

Sides
Pick up along side, 18 stitches on 1 needle - then 10 stitches on other side with another needle and 18 stitches on third side with same needle. (Needle #1 has 10 stitches, #2 has 18 stitches, #3 has 10 stitches, #4 has 18 stitches.) Work all around as follows: P 4 rounds, K 4 rounds, P 4 rounds, K 4 rounds, P 4 rounds.

Instep
Work on needle #1 with 10 stitches for instep.
Row 1: Pick first stitch off side needle, K that stitch and the first stitch on needle #1 tog, K9. Turn.
Row 2: Pick first stitch off side needle, P that stitch and the first stitch on needle #1 tog, P9. Turn.
Repeat rows 1 & 2 until there are 10 stitches on each needle (7 more times).

***If you are making strawberries, add seeds to the instep as follows:
Rows 1 and 2 as above.
Row 3: Pick first stitch off side needle, K that stitch and the first stitch on needle #1 tog, K2 MC, K1 Contrasting Color (CC), K3 MC, K1 CC, K to end MC.
Rows 4-6 as above
Row 7: Pick first stitch off side needle, K that stitch and the first stitch on needle #1 tog, K4 MC, K1 CC, K to end MC.
Row 8: Pick first stitch off side needle, P that stitch and the first stitch on needle #1 tog, P9.
Repeat Rows 1-8
End instep with a total of 40 stitches, 10 on each needle.

Cuff
Now work all around all stitches K1, P1 for 3 rounds. Next round *K1, P1, YO, K2tog* and repeat all around. Then K1, P1 for 3 more rounds.

Knit 5 rounds in MC, Knit 5 rounds in CC (remainder is in CC)
Cuff Turn
1 round *K2tog, YO*
Purl 1 Round

Leaves
Each needle will be a separate leaf and worked individually.
Row 1: K1, SSK, K4, K2tog, K1, turn
Row 2 and all even rows: Purl, turn
Row 3: K1 SSK, K2, K2tog, K1, turn
Row 5: K1, SSK, K2tog, K1, turn
Row 7: SSK, K2tog, turn
Row 9: K2tog and pull yarn through as bind off
Repeat on each of the other needles.
